What to Expect

We would love to have you come by and visit us at Staines Congregational Church. Because visiting a church for the first time can be an unnerving experience, we would like to let you know what you can expect when coming to our church. Guests are always welcome and we hope this helps! Please contact us if you have any more questions.

When are the services?
Every Sunday morning service starts at 10.30 with worship for all the family together. We then have an hour-long service for adults and break into age-appropriate activities where children and teenagers learn about the Bible and God’s love in a relaxed, fun way. There is a crèche, Bubbles for the 3-5s, Splash for 5-8s, Xtreme for 8-11s and The Grid for over-11s.  Periodically we spend the whole morning worshipping together – or let our young people take the lead. When the service ends at 12.00 we would love you to stay for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.

What are the services like?
We believe you will find our services to be warm, friendly and down-to-earth. We worship the Lord together with a mixture of hymns and choruses, read Scripture together and study the Bible together. Our services are a time where you can worship God and get to know Him in a better way on a personal level. Do take advantage of our on-line sermons for learning more about the gospel and being a Christian.

Do newcomers stand out as visitors?
You will not stand out when you visit our church. There will be greeters at our entrances to welcome you and give you information about our church, but no one will point you out in an embarrassing way during our service. We desire our services to be a time when you can worship the Lord and get to know about our church in a better way. For this reason, you will not be made to stand out.

What should I wear?
When you arrive at our church, you will find some people in business casual, some in their ‘Sunday Best’ and some completely casual. We aren’t concerned with what you are wearing when you join us… we just want you to join us.

Is there anything for children?
As a church we expect our children and young people to be seen and heard! There is a constantly changing range of activities, both on Sundays and during the week.

Every Sunday morning service starts with worship for all the family together. There is a crèche, Bubbles for the 3-5s, Splash for 5-8s, Xtreme for 8-11s and The Grid for over-11s.  Periodically we spend the whole morning worshipping together – or let our young people take the lead.

During the week there is a Youth Home Group for young people aged 12+ where they get serious about Bible study!

The week is full of activities for little ones. We host Scallywags Nursery every weekday morning. There is Buggies and Bikes – our home-grown toddler group – on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as NCT on Mondays and Fridays. We also host the local Brownie and Guide pack.

We’d love you to join us… just ask for more information!
